40 Halloween things to do (before October 31st)

Halloween is too much fun to only celebrate for one day. Luckily, you don’t have to wait for October 31st to celebrate Halloween. Here are 40 Halloween things to do to get in (or stay in) the Halloween mood while you are waiting for the big day.

  1. Shop for costumes.
  2. Shop for decorations.
  3. Go to a pumpkin patch.
  4. Go to a haunted house.
  5. Watch a scary movie.
  6. Go for a walk and look at Halloween decorations.

  8. Start stockpiling Halloween candy for trick-or-treaters.
  9. Eat some of your Halloween candy.
  10. Buy more Halloween candy to restock what you ate.
  11. Carve a jack-o-lantern.
  12. Experiment with costume make-up.
  13. Decorate your house.
  14. Do a Halloween craft.
  15. Make a costume.
  16. Bake Halloween cookies.
  17. Wear some Halloween fashion.
  18. Watch It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.
  19. Write a letter to the Great Pumpkin.
  20. Watch The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episodes
  21. Read a scary story.
  22. Make up a scary story.
  23. Buy someone a scary book to celebrate All Hallow’s Read.
  24. Go see a spooky play.

  26. Get lost in a corn maze.

  28. Draw a Halloween picture.
  29. Find a local comic book store participating in Halloween ComicFest, then plan to go there on October 31st and get some free comic books.
  30. Start a neighborhood game of Boo! (Leave a treat on neighbor’s porch with a note saying they’ve been booed, ring the door bell, and run. They put up a sign saying they’ve already gotten booed, then they are supposed to boo someone else. Boo game note and sign templates can be found online.)
  31. Have a pumpkin spice anything.
  32. Dance to the Monster Mash or other spooky songs.
  33. Have a Halloween party.
  34. Go to a Halloween party.
  35. Read a Halloween poem.
  36. Flip through a Halloween magazine and marvel at all the Halloween projects you don’t have the time, energy, or money to do. (Or do some of them!)
