Yesterday I was surprised to discover that my voter registration was inactive. Luckily I found out in time to get my registration updated, but if you didn’t register in time you may still be eligible to vote during grace period voting.
In Chicago, grace period voting and registration starts today and continues through Saturday, November 3. To participate:
- You must show up show up in person at the Chicago Board of Elections at 69 W. Washington St., 6th Floor between 9 AM and 5 PM.
- You must bring two forms of identification at least one of which shows your current address.
- You must vote at the same time that you register. Remember, there will be a lot more on the ballot than the presidential race. A sample ballot for Chicago is here.
If you aren’t sure if you are registered to vote or whether your registration is active you should check your status here.
For those who do have valid voter registrations, early voting begins in Chicago on October 22.
