What I did last summer (and last spring and last winter and most of last year)

I’ve written my first full-length play in over a decade, and it’s being produced. Endeavor Mind is the first show of The Plagiarists 2018-2019 season. The show will run October 5-27 at the Den Theatre in Chicago. Tickets should go on sale in a week or so, and I’ll share more info about the show then.

Endeavor Mind is about a woman who gives up autonomy over her brain in order to gain superhuman intelligence. The play checks off multiple boxes from my list of types of women whose stories should be told more often. That is, I wrote the type of play I want to see.

Regular readers of my blog may remember when I asked for character name suggestions in January 2017. This is that same play, and I did use names that were suggested. (One significant change since then is that I changed one of the male characters to a female one. Luckily, the name previously decided on for that character was Francis, so the change to Frances was a simple one.)

My initial work on the script was done as a part of the Women’s Theatre Alliance of Chicago’s New Play Development Workshop. Several scenes from an early draft of the play were showcased by the Women’s Theatre Alliance in the summer of 2017.

After continued hard work, the play is ready for its full premiere this fall. I’m so excited!

Look at my wonderful director and cast!
