The average Internet user

I am the average Internet user. I want the content and applications I love, but I don’t want to pay for them or to see any ads.

I am the average Internet user. I don’t want to pay for shipping or sales tax ever. EVER.

I am the average Internet user. I get angry when sites I love shut down after I complained about their attempts to make money.

I am the average Internet user. I spread rumors and falsehoods because I make no effort to verify things that please me.

I am the average Internet user. I don’t understand the difference between sharing digital content and stealing it, and I don’t know what the big deal is anyway.

I am the average Internet user. I want the freedom to express my opinion AND the freedom to prevent others from expressing theirs.

I am the average Internet user. I want to be able to attack and mock people online, but I don’t want to be attacked and mocked.

I am the average Internet user. I panic at over-hyped issues and ignore serious ones.

I am the average Internet user. I click on whatever I want without worrying that there could be any negative consequences.

I am the average Internet user. I don’t want to think about security, but I’m pissed if I lose access to my account.

I am the average Internet user. I idly sit by and allow lawmakers who don’t understand technology to make decisions about a communications medium that I’ve come to consider essential.

I am the average Internet user. My carelessness and apathy will destroy what I love.

Don’t be the average Internet user. Think harder. Do better.
